Ada’s October 13 change leaves existing Messaging SDK settings intact. Migrating support teams must enable uploads before customers can send photos.

What changes for users
Before moving a photo-dependent support workflow, test an ordinary product photo with uploads off and on, then check the handoff. Inspect the generated description for details the next person needs. Assess transcript retention separately from deleting the uploaded file; the two do not establish the same data lifecycle.

The upload toggle now defaults to off. For migrating agents, teams enable it in Messaging’s Appearance settings. The change does not switch off existing Messaging SDK deployments.

Ada’s image guide describes a separate processing boundary: a vision model creates a text description, which the AI Agent uses instead of the image itself. Images are deleted after seven days, but descriptions remain in the transcript.

The guide also separates uploads to the AI Agent from file uploads to human agents. A working human handoff does not establish that the AI stage accepts photos.

How this was checked
The guide still says to ask Ada’s team to enable uploads before using the toggle. Tenant-specific activation remains unverified.
